The Breton Stripe

As far as I can remember I wanted to be a Fashion designer....Now as far as I remember fashion as a child meant you had to wear the same as your sister and your Mom got it from Woolworths....

Yes and when you got to church or any social gathering most other girls were wearing the same outfit or something that you also have in your cupboard....

Now attached is a pic of myself (the one with the crazy hair holding the ice-cream) and my sister (who prob ate her ice-cream already and was going to go for my mine too...)

Never-the-less we were wearing matching stripe tops....IN ORANGE.....LOL!!!

Which brings me to one of this season's hottest items for winter...

You guessed it....The Breton stripe...Now although the stripe never goes away for men or surfer Chic's this seasons stripes take on a nautical more Parisian feel to it...It's absolutely massive internationally and has been for a while now...So included in the pic is a new way to wear it.

I personally cringe at the thought of wearing stripes running across the body but, as long as it's worn properly and preferably tight we should all be ok...

Best of all is something familiar and so easy to wear...i.e. If you get it wrong after looking at the pics the only stripe you should be wearing is a stripe on a suit when the fashion police arrest you...lol...

Ok my Fashion Freaks...

I'm OUT....Mwah!!

"Some Usefull (or boring) info about the stripes from the Net:"

Before we get into the outfits, let us first provide you, dear readers, with a little context. The Breton stripe shirt originated in Brittany—a French province that occupies the peninsula between the English Channel and Bay of Biscay—which may explain its nautical affiliation. The long-sleeved cotton garment usually has a boat neck and, traditionally, the stripes begin around the breastbone. Directional designers like Christopher Decarnin, however, amped up the chic factor by creating a glittering mariner shirt with bold shoulders for Balmain's F/W 09 collection. Very on trend, n'est pas! And while the runway rendition is inspirational to be sure, we will always have an affinity for the more pared-down take on this casual classic. After all, nothing can beat the laid-back allure of an oversized striped top with pushed up sleeves for a chic afternoon look, no matter whether you're yachting or merely captaining a lawn chair!
