I've always been someone to be up for a party so naturally I would follow the sequin trend....
But, as most South Africans we all love our casual lifestyle of slip slops and shorts. The new winter trend is...You guessed it Sequins!!! And Love it......!!!
My friends and I have gone way out this weekend and killed ourselves dancing and socialising til the wee hours of the morning...In Sequins and studs...Now studs is whole new conversation BUT, sequins....They r hot!!!
I always remember sequins directly relating to Dynasty.....lol...But the little sequin has turned into a sequin frenzy...and I can't see anything wrong with that...
It's being introduced in leggings, vests, dresses, motifs on vests...skirts and even through the accessories form bags to headbands....(yes the sequin headband has its place too)..
I believe the secret is to wear one sequin item and the more simple the better! and then try to keep the other items grounded in black or a dark/neutral shade. And don't try to wear the sequin shoe with the sequin dress either!!!!
The one thing the retailers were hoping for was that the Young South African girl (I'm 29 and this includes me,OK) would figure out that sequins were meant for the day too...After shocking results over the festive season...This girl was not told of this secret....Shocking but true...!!!!
I'm still hoping that the true mirror ball 7Os's disco shine girl is out there somewhere and will find that the sequin will show her how much fun I've had shimmering in sequins Day or Night...
(If anyone wants to know where I got my dress, mail me)
Keep Shining....

Winter sequin essentials - dress, skirt, top, leggings, shorts
Who would have thought that anything embellished with sequins could be described as essential, but this winter sequins look set to be one of the must have trends for both daytime and evening. I love the idea of adding a bit of sparkle to a daytime outfit and if cleverly combined with grey and neutral colours sequins can look amazing without looking too much. You can choose from metallic, black and multicoloured sequins to create whatever look you like.
